“The HTC HD2 can be served up with a dish of Froyo pretty painlessly, and only requires about 600mb on the SD card. All you need to do is download this file (http://theadventuresofpj.com/downloads/HD2/FroyoStone_Sense.7z), unzip it, place the folder on the SD card and navigate to it via the Windows Mobile File Manager App.
From there, tap the file named “CLRCAD”, and then tap “Haret”, which applies a sound fix and builds the Android OS respectively. The only downside is the lack of an effective bootloader for easy switching between Windows and Android OS, so if you need to restart the phone, you have to complete the process all over again.”

Maybe because no company selling or making them has ask to place ads for Android phones. Ads are placed when the advertises buy air time. If the advertiser does not feel the demographics at the time Adult Swim is on, warrant the cost of the ads at that time of night, they don’t place the ads on the network.
Or they know that people that would be watching at that time of night are not pron watch or pay attention to advertising (I know I sure don’t buy things based on ads in TV period), and rarely pay attention to ads on Adult Swim. Happy DVR watcher of Adult Swim, so I fast forward through them.

I have my contacts synced with my gmail account on my phone. Is there a way i can view these contacts online cause my phones screen broke and i need to get someones number from the phone.

If the contacts were synced correctly, you can access them from your Gmail account.
You can find them on the left hand side, just under the Gmail logo, and above the Compose Mail button.
If they are not listed there, it means they were not synced correctly. But fear not, citizen! Depending on the make/model phone there may be another way. Each manufacturer has their own sync software to back up contacts, calendars, whatever. You will need to find the install files on the support site for whichever mobile phone you have. If you list it, I can find it for you.

On my Android phone, I have the Google search bar app/widget. When I open it and it shows my past searches, this one search is ALWAYS there and I really want it to go away because i don’t want anyone to see it. “Most phones will not accept iTunes mp4 format. You have to burn them onto a cd and them re-upload them onto windows media player.”
I do not know if this person has ever used itunes before but not all tracks on itunes are mp4. Those are usually videos. Itunes sometimes uses the .aac format but you can get a batch converter to change those to MP3 which ITUNES also uses as well!
About using itunes… Right now, i don’t know if anyone has scripted a patch for this. For now, you may have to use a different player (Windows Media Player, VLC, WinAmp) to allow syncing. The other way is to just DRAG n DROP files while you have the phone’s card “mounted” to the pc to transfer files. It is how i currently move music files onto the phone

There’s an easy way thanks to Google.
To set up Google Calendar Sync:
Make sure you’re using a supported operating system and Outlook version.
Download Google Calendar Sync (version 0.9.3.5) at http://dl.google.com/googlecalendarsync/GoogleCalendarSync_Installer.exe
Once a dialog box appears, click Save File. The downloaded file should open automatically. If it doesn’t, manually open it from your browser’s download window.
Click OK to confirm that you’re aware this is an executable file.
Read through the Google Calendar Sync Terms of Service, and click I Agree.
Follow through the Installation Options and click Install to finish the set-up process.
Once Google Calendar Sync is installed on your computer, the Google Calendar Sync Settings window will appear:
In the Settings window, enter your email address and password and select the Sync Option you prefer. Read about each Sync Option.
You’ll also be able to set the time interval for syncing to occur. Please keep in mind that 10 minutes is the minimum time interval allowed.
After the initial set-up, you can access the Google Calendar Sync Settings window again by double-clicking the calendar icon in your Windows System Tray.

Yes it’s true. But you shouldn’t worry with the Galaxy S II where most apps should work on it. This issue is mainly on the more older or low end and mid-range Android phones where the phones don’t have the right hardware or software (older version of Android) to handle the particular app.
Example: Games like AirAttack HD will work on a high end Android phone like the Galaxy S II while phones like the Optimus One (which is a low end phone) won’t be able to play it.
You don’t really need to figure most of the time. The Android Market will automatically display only the apps that will work on your phone. With some, just check the Detail section and sometimes, a System Requirements list will show.

Well, it really depends. It will still most likely work with future apps but that depends on what is needed. The majority of apps will work with any Android phone. Just a few which requires a lot of resources might not support the Galaxy S II but that will still be a long way away since this phone is quite powerful.

I am using a digital recorder on my android phone to record college classes. I would like to transfer those lectures into text files easily if possible. 2 identical Android Phones receiving upgrades differently?
Hello,
Both me and my work colleague have new (some months old) Google Nexus S’s. They were both bought unlocked (full price, no contract) and sealed. We both have Android 2.3.4 (manually installed). When the last GMaps update was released I received it in a matter of days, but he never got it… now, he got the new Market update a week ago and there’s no sign of it on my phone. I can’t understand why this is happening. Are there other possible differences I don’t know about? (We both live in Bucharest, Romania… hell, during the day we’re even at the same coordinates 
)
PS: neither phone is rooted. What am I missing?

No. Just like with an iPhone, maps are just a connection to Google Maps, so it’s just like going online. If your plan doesn’t call for use of the internet, don’t use it.

I’ve been using an HTC android for for years
but these days my eyes has been captured by Samsung Galaxy SII
my friend lent me the SII for few days as i couldn’t make up my mind
SII is good, powerful device
but ended up i decided to stick with HTC
because i like the Friendstream more than Samsung’s Social Hub
that’s my experience

Without any internet connection all you can do is make voice calls, send text messages and use apps that are already installed and don’t need internet access. They will tell you when you install them if they need internet, a lot do.
The internet connection can be either from the cell network using a data plan or over wi-fi.
If it’s ok that some of your phones features won’t work when you’re away from a wifi hotspot then you can manage without a data plan.
All the things you listed need the internet.
Technically GPS works without internet but GPS on it’s own isn’t much use. Things like google maps do need a network connection to get the map of where you are.

I’m having a big interest of buying HTC Sensation with T-Mobile contract http://htc.t-mobile.com/sensation
The main reason why I’m hesitating is that I travels a lot, mainly Hongkong so I need to put some chinese sim card to my phone for approximately once every 2 month. I used to have a software unlocked iPhone 3GS to solve my problem but I don’t feel like I’m going to keep my iPhone as I fell in love with this sensation.
This maybe my first Android phone so I may not understand anything about plans and anything related to that

The application needs the ‘unwanted’ files. I don’t want to permanently remove them. I just don’t want them to appear in my song list.

You’ll get full charge if its powered on… But, since it is a piece of electronics, your might wanna turn the phone off after your complete charge for about 2-3 minutes… Maybe 5 minutes… Take a potty break.. LOL LOL… Then turn the phone back on… The helps cleat the DNS and Dalvik Cache.. It ALSO free the phone of any static electricity can can be storing up in the phone due to constant “ON-ness” and constantly being held and used… Static Electricity can short thwe internals… Cause the phone to appear bug or have a virus…. Love your phone, be nice to it… Give it a 2-5 minute nap every day. LOL Seriously, btw… Google it

Alternative Android Devices, things that are not phones?
So I’ve been wanting a nice new android phone, but cannot get my monthly budget to meet up with the service plan costs. Thus, I am in the market for some sort of alternative Android platform, a tablet maybe or just something smaller. Two requirements, it must have Bluetooth and it must be root-able.
I want (a thing) that runs Android so I can have something that will run the programs I write for it outside of the emulator on my computer. The bluetooth is for programs that communicate to microcontrolers that I would love to learn how to write.
I have already had a look at some of the advertized tablets that are being sold right now, but I’d like some some words if anyone else knows something about the other platforms Android is running one. Since all I am doing right now is research, price is not an issue, just throw stuff at me!

You can try tregrak overclock in the market place, what this does is makes your processor higher for example i have a built in 1.0 ghz processor but i overclocked it to 1.3 and its given me a way better browsing experience i love it. But there is a warning on the program so i am not responsible for any issues or problems you may have.

Any good Android phones on UK contract?
I am looking at maybe getting an android phone because I am wondering whether it’s worth paying the high price for an iPhone.
I am wondering if there is a good Android phone for apps, internet, wifi, tethering (via wifi and maybe usb) and optionally GPS for around <=£20 a month in the UK including internet access.
I would also prefer if I can "root" it as well since I always like having full access to the OS.

How to unblock blocked websites in android phones?
Ok so I bought this Xperia x10 mini pro android smart phone just to use (Skype app, Facebook accessing and Timescape, and YouTube and stuff like that), and in my county, Facebook and YouTube are block websites, so usually on my pc I use proxy to unlock that, and I was planning to do the same on my android phone, but I just found out that there is no proxy settings in android.
And also I have a problem accessing android market to download Skype, but the market keeps on “loading”
Please help me, I feel so bad and I regret spending my whole money on this phone, which is so useless in my country!
P.s i got android 2.1 firmware
